The Jewish Autonomous Oblast is a region of the Russian Federation and formerly part of the RSFSR.

In 1928, an autonomous Jewish region was founded within the Republic of Birobidzhan.[1]
The Jewish Autonomous Oblast was founded in 1934. By 1939, 18,000 Jews had moved to the region.[2]
