Pennsylvania, officially the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is a state in the eastern United States of America.
History
During the 19th century, Pennsylvania imprisoned 7,000 people every year for being in debt. On average, one of every 144 inhabitants was imprisoned each year for debt or more severe crimes.[1]
