The old democratic revolution, was a bourgeois-democratic revolution which that took place in China between 1840 and 1919[1]. The beginning was marked by the first opium war, and the end was marked by the May 4th movement. The revolution consisted of struggle against both feudal oppression and foreign aggression.[1]
Together the old democratic revolution and the new democratic revolution can be collectively referred to as the "Chinese revolution".[2]
