The Irish Socialist Republican Party was an Irish republican party founded by James Connolly in 1896.
Program[edit | edit source]
The Irish Socialist Republican Party had the following 10-point program:[1]
- Nationalization of railroads and canals.
- Abolition of private banks and establishment of state banks.
- Establishment of publicly funded rural depots for agricultural equipment.
- Graduated income tax on anyone who makes over £400 per year to fund social programs.
- Limit working week to 48 hours and establish a minimum wage.
- Free child support for all children.
- Extension of public ownership to all necessities of life.
- Public control of schools through elected boards.
- Free education through university.
- Universal suffrage.
