Trần Thanh Mẫn is the current chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly. He was placed in charge temporarily after the resignation of Vương Đình Huệ.[1][2]
Life[edit | edit source]
In August of 1962, he was born in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang Province.[1]
He was the vice chairman and then the eventual chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.[1]
Following this, he became vice chairman of the National Assembly in April 2021.[1]
His predecessor, Vương Đình Huệ, had his resignation accepted by the 13th Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee on April 26th, 2024. Then, on the 2nd of May, he was relieved of his duties.[1]
At the seventh session of the 15th National Assembly, Trần Thanh Mẫn was elected as chairman by parliamentary vote.[1]
