The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Spanish: Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela, PSUV) is a democratic socialist political party which has been the ruling party of Venezuela since 2010. It was formed from the merger of some of the various leftist political movements, organizations and social forces that supported Hugo Chávez and the Bolivarian Revolution. Chávez's original party the Fifth Republic Movement was thus dissolved. PSUV is now the largest political party in Venezuela, as well as the 11th largest in the world, with more than 7 million active members as of 2014.
