Abel Gezevich Aganbegyan was a Soviet economist who worked with Mikhail Gorbachev to overthrow the Soviet Union. He headed the Siberian branch of the Institute of Economics and Industrial Organization of the Academy of Sciences from 1967 to 1985.[1]
