Emmanuel Macron (born 21 December 1977) is a French politician who has been the President of France since 2017. He raised taxes on the poor and attempted to raise the retirement age from 62 to 65.[1]

Political career

In the first round of the 2017 presidential election, Macron received 24% of the vote, far-right Marine Le Pen received 21%, and establishment rightist François Fillon and democratic socialist Jean-Luc Mélenchon each received 20%.[2]
