Hermann Wilhelm Göring (12 January 1893 – 15 October 1946) was a German politician, aviator, military leader, and Nazi war criminal. He occupied many influential positions within the Nazi Party, government, and military, such as Supreme SA-Leader (1923), President of the Reichstag (1932–1945), Minister President of Prussia (1933–1945), Reichsminister of Economics (1937–1938), and commander-in-chief of the Luftwaffe (1934–1945). In addition, he was the founder of the Gestapo and was the sole Reichsmarschall (the highest rank in the German military, created specifically for him).
