The Union of National Journalists' Associations (German: Union nationaler Journalistenverbände; abbreviated UNJ) was a body of governance in Axis and Axis-aligned nations founded in Vienna in December 1941 for the purpose of "combatting international press lies." Founding members included Germany, Italy (represented by Umberto Guglielmotti), Hungary (represented by Kolosváry-Borcsa Mihály), Romania (represented by Alexandru Gregorian), Bulgaria (represented by Belchev), Slovakia (represented by Aladár Kočiš), Croatia (represented by Matija Kovačić), and Japan (represented by Sakuma Shin on behalf of Ōshima Hiroshi).[1] Journalists from German-occupied Norway joined in 1942.[2] Wilhelm Weiss was the Union's President, at the suggestion of Guglielmotti. Gregorian served as its Vice President.[1] Maximilian Freiherr du Prel was appointed General Secretary.[3]
