Benjamin Netanyahu, commonly nicknamed Bibi, is an Israeli politician and war criminal[1] currently serving as "Prime Minister" of "Israel" since late 2022. He has previously served as "Prime Minister" from 1996 to 1999 and again from 2009 to 2021 as well as several other ministerial roles. He supports Donald Trump[2] and Ayn Rand.[3] In 2019, he threatened to annex the West Bank of Palestine.[2]
Early Life
On 21 October 1949 Netanyahu was born in Tel Aviv in the year following the declaration of independence of the supposed "State of Israel". He was the second of three children born to Benzion Netanyahu and Tzila Segal, a Jewish family of Eastern European origin, and was registered as both a citizen of Israel and the United States.[4] His family name was originally Mileikowsky, but this was changed by his father as part of a Zionist trend of hebraizing surnames, obscuring their European origins.[5]
Political career
During his first term as "Prime Minister" from 1996 to 1999, Netanyahu implemented neoliberal economic policies and privatized resources. He continued these policies as "Finance Minister" from 2003 to 2005, leading to an increase in living costs.[6] In December 2022, after becoming "Prime Minister" for a third time, he released a document stating that his government's priority is to advance settlement of all Zionist-occupied regions.[7]
