Artificial intelligence (AI) is the simulation of intelligent behavior by computers.[1] AI and robots are means of production, not workers, and do not create value. Increased use of machinery (constant capital) and decreased use of human labor (variable capital) causes a decrease in the rate of profit.[2]

Uses

Art

OpenAI created the DALL-E and Midjourney AI image generators.[3]

Military

The Pentagon has simulated AI drones that received points for destroying their targets. When human operators tried to override the AI's decisions, the AI attacked its operators or destroyed communication towers.[1]

Police

Police use AI to automate racial profiling.[3]

Opposition

WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes

In 2023, workers from the Writers Guild of America went on strike due to fears that they would have to rewrite AI-generated scripts. At the same time, SAG-AFTRA went on strike to prevent companies from using AI simulations of actors without compensation.[1]
