Johann August Ernst von Willich (19 November 1810 – 22 January 1878) was a former Prussian noble, general, and an early German Communist. Willich took part in the German revolutions of 1848–49, with Friedrich Engels serving as his aide. Afterwards he emigrated to the United States. During the Statesian Civil War, Willich led the "1st German" 32nd Indiana Infantry Regiment, participating in the Atlanta, Chickamauga, and Chattanooga campaigns. He returned to Prussia in 1870 and died in 1878.
