Billie Sol Estes (January 10, 1925 – May 14, 2013) was a Statesian agricultural capitalist. He bribed Lyndon B. Johnson with $10 million of illegal kickbacks. In 1962, John F. Kennedy ordered the Justice Department to investigate Estes for cotton farm allotments that violated Department of Agriculture regulations. Estes was indicted in March 1962 and sentenced to 24 years in prison a year later. In 1982, he admitted that Johnson ordered the assassination of Department of Agriculture employee Henry Marshall, who was investigating Estes.[1]
