Corruption occurs when public officials directly use their position for personal enrichment. It has existed in all exploitative states dating back to ancient times but is especially common under capitalism.[1]

By country

Germany

In 2016, company director Uriel Sharef was tried for ordering over $14 million of bribes to government officials and financial elites in Latin America.[1]

Soviet Union

In 1918, the Central Committee of the Bolshevik Party passed a decree making bribery punishable by five years in prison. In 1922, the punishment was increased to execution.[1]

United States

US Secretary of State John Kerry admitted that the State Department had no documents on $6 billion worth of contracts.[1]
