Edward Geary Lansdale (February 6, 1908 – February 23, 1987) was an Air Force General and CIA agent. President Kennedy removed him from power on October 31, 1963, and approved the assassination of his ally Ngô Đình Diệm two days later. Kennedy himself was assassinated on November 22, and Lyndon B. Johnson restored Lansdale to power as director of counterinsurgency in Vietnam.[1]
