Max Hunt (1923 – 2021) was an Australian communist. He traveled to the Soviet Union and called it "one of the best things he had ever done."[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
Max Hunt joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 1941 and joined a military branch of the CPA in 1942. He organized a victory march in 1945 in Cairns, Queensland and participated in Labor Prime Minister Ben Chifley's campaign to nationalise Australian banks. In 1947, he became a postal worker and was elected to the executive of the Postal Workers' Union in New South Wales. In 1980, Hunt retired and joined the Socialist Party of Australia (later renamed the CPA).[1]
