The 2014 Ukrainian coup d'état, also known as the Maidan Revolution, was a CIA-backed coup in Ukraine against president Viktor Yanukovych. After the coup, armed rebellions began against the Ukrainian government in Donbas, forming the people's republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.[1]
