The Revolutionary Union (RU) was a Maoist organization in the United States that originated out of the Revolutionary Youth Movement II. During the 1970s, it was the largest pro-China group in the United States during the 1970s. In 1971, a Third Worldist faction of the RU split to form Venceremos. In 1973, the RU began negotiating with other groups to unify the communist movement. It became increasingly sectarian during the mid-1970s and declared itself the only party of the working class. By 1976, it opposed the revolutions in Angola, Cuba, and Portugal.[1]
