Spelling of Capital
Should we spell the capital of Ukraine as Kyiv or Kiev? Comrade Ledlecreeper27 (talk) 23:48, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- The spelling was Kiev during Soviet administration and a part of Stalin's anti-ukrainian-nationalism policies. The spelling of Kyiv was popularized by the 1995 protocol performed by Ukrainian nationalists after independence. [[1]] The recent push for this spelling is due to the KyivNotKiev campaign started by StratCom Ukraine in 2018. In my opinion Kiev is not just correct, but this matter deserves a page of its own.
