Up and Out of Poverty is a book of speeches and articles by now Chinese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping, published in 1992, and then re-published in 2014. It has since been published in a number of languages, including Chinese, English, Spanish, French, and Hausa.[1]
It covers the period from September 1988 until May 1990, when Xi was the party chief of Ningde Prefecture in east China's Fujian Province.[2] It discusses poverty alleviation efforts in the countryside that later proved successful.
