Ḥizqiyyāhū (c. 740 BCE – c. 687 BCE), anglicized as Hezekiah or Ezekias, was a king of Judah from around 716 to 687 BCE. He initially ruled as a vassal of the Assyrian king Sînaḥḥīerība. In 705 BCE, he allied with Mardukaplaiddina, the leader of a Babylonian rebellion against Assyria. The prophet Yəšaʿyāhū criticized the alliance and said that it would lead to the Assyrians looting Judah.[1]
