AN602

The AN602 was the most powerful nuclear weapon ever constructed and detonated. Constructed by the Soviet Union, it was tested on 30th October 1961 in an aeriel explosion on the island of Novaya Zemlaya in the countries far north. The bomb yielded approximately 50 megatons of TNT.^{[citation needed]}

Its initial prototype was designed to yield 100 megatons of TNT.^{[citation needed]}
