The Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic (AzSSR) was one of the constituent republics of the Soviet Union, located in the southern Caucasus. The republic was first established in 1920, before becoming apart of the Transcaucasian SFSR from 1922 to 1936, along with Armenia and Georgia. It then became its own SSR until the collapse of the Soviet Union and the establishment of bourgeois Azerbaijan in 1991.
