The Bahamas, officially the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is an island country in the western Atlantic Ocean. It is a former British colony, and retains the British Monarch as its head of state.
History[edit | edit source]
Workers revolted against the colonial government of the Bahamas in the 1940s and 1950s. Randall Fawkes led the petty-bourgeois Progressive Liberal Party against the white colonial United Bahamian Party following the 1967 election. In January 2017, the first majority Black government was elected in the Bahamas.[1]
