ProleWik is proud to announce its redesigned and overhauled new homepage!
The old homepage, which has been archived here, was the very first version we made and had endured for four full years. In this time, ProleWiki has grown and changed so much that the previous homepage simply was insufficient to face all the new features and content we wanted to bring out to the forefront.
In this time, we have grown to more than 30 active editors, almost 4000 pages created, 1000 works of literature hosted on our library, and an essays space. After the complete overhaul and redesign of our library and essays homepages in 2023, we naturally took towards redesigning the instance homepage.
The new homepage, which is available now on the English instance (with other instances soon to follow), signals a new era for ProleWiki: one where we don't need to introduce ourselves anymore to each and every new visitor, but where our mission statement and purpose of existing is readily apparent.
With so much content to offer in 2024 and beyond, we wanted to make it all accessible from one place. The new index page features a random book selection to help you find your next read, as well as a random featured page of a communist figure or media organization that we recommend you check out. We also put forward our editors' personal essays on this page, in their dedicated corner. The rest of the page is dedicated to a "join us" corner, news that concern the ProleWiki project and wiki, a historical calendar of events that we rolled out earlier in 2024, and finally links to join our communities and support us.
This redesign also includes a search bar for ease of use by visitors, as well as a collection of "pills" (named after their shape) that link to specific pages and categories. Thank you to the Star Citizen wiki for the visual inspiration, as they are the wiki that also made our default theme (called Citizen).
With these new additions, we hope to help each and every visitor to ProleWiki find the information they are looking for much faster than before, and guide them towards other pages that they may want to check out.
This new homepage was made possible by the many editors that work on ProleWiki, providing books, content and essays to feature.
