Recruiting is under way again for the 147th Infantry, Ohio National Guard. During the [First] World War the 147th fought in three campaigns in France. Above, a German machine gun [the MG 08], captured during that time. The young guardsmen are, left to right, Privates [William] Marshal Chaney, Joseph Loseto, and Jesse Calhoun [Chaney's 2nd cousin once removed]. (The Cincinnati Post, 17 July 1940, p. 17)
