Fujian province(福建省), One of the wealthier provinces in China, with a population of about 40 million.
History
In 221 BC, Qin Shi Huang Ying Zheng unified northern China. Thereafter he sent 500,000 troops to attack southern China. The aborigines in southern China had a low level of productivity and since then Fujian Province became part of China.
Due to its advantageous geographical location, Fujian became an early Chinese province in contact with the world, and in the Song Dynasty, Quanzhou City in Fujian Province became the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road.
In the 18th century, after the Qing Dynasty recovered Taiwan, Taiwan came under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province. Later, for national defense needs, Taiwan became a province. Taiwan and Fujian are geographically and culturally close, the same dialect is spoken in Fujian's 3 cities and Taiwan province. In 1894, Japan occupied Taiwan.
In the Sino-Japanese War that broke out in 1931, almost all of China's coastline fell. The coastal areas of Fujian were also occupied by Japan, and the Japanese army carried out inhumane massacres.
In 1979, Xiamen City in Fujian Province became one of the four special economic zones.
Culture
Almost all of Fujian is mountainous, and in ancient times, many Fujianese became merchants as a result. Fujian merchants extended their trade to Southeast Asia, so there are many Fujianese communities in Southeast Asian countries.
