Gavin Christopher Newsom (born October 10, 1967) is a Statesian politician and businessman who has served as the 40th governor of California since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, previously he served as the 49th lieutenant governor of California from 2011 to 2019 and as the 42nd mayor of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011. Since the Democrat loss in the 2024 presidential election, Newsom has become a central figure of the party and is predicted to be a leading candidate for the Democratic nomination in the next presidential election.
