Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov, was a Russian military leader and politician who served as a Marshal of the Soviet Union, and oversaw some of the Soviet Union's most decisive victories during the Second World War. He also served as Chief of the General Staff, Minister of Defence, and was a member of the Politburo. Following the death of Joseph Stalin, Zhukov supported the revisionist Nikita Khrushchev's bid for leadership of the Soviet Union.
