Iahmes I (16th century BCE) was the founder of the New Kingdom and Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. At the start of his reign, he ruled over the southern city of Waset while the Heqaukhaset invaders occupied the north of Egypt. Iahmes captured the fortress of Hut-waret from the invaders and drove them out of the country.[1]
