Olaf Scholz (born 14 June 1958) is a German social democratic politician who served as the Chancellor of Germany from 2021 to 2025. He has expressed support for a long-standing agreement that would allow the US to store and maintain nuclear weapons in US military bases within Germany and "prepare for an upcoming contest with 'authoritarian' states".[1] He also expressed support for the Al-Qaeda coup of the Syrian government.[2]
