The Red Army Choir was the official choir of the Red Army. Alexander Alexandrov, who later composed the Soviet anthem, founded the choir in 1928 with 12 members from the Frunze Red Army. By 1937, it had grown to 150 members. Gorbachev renamed the choir to A. V. Alexandrov Russian Army Song and Dance Ensemble in 1985.[1]
