Robert Koldewey (10 September 1855 – 4 February 1925) was a German archaeologist. Between 1899 and 1917, he led the excavation of Babylon and discovered the palace of Nabûkudurriuṣur II. As of the 1980s, it was the most expensive excavation in the history of archaeology.[1]
