The Scottish National Party (SNP), is a Scottish nationalist party which primarily advocates for an independent Scotland. It is currently the largest party in Scotland and controls the majority of Scottish seats in the British Parliament. The SNP's current leadership is social democratic, however, the party combines a wide array of the political spectrum including from social democrats to the right, all united under the banner of the fight for Scottish independence.

History

2014 Referendum

In 2014 the SNP's lobbying paid off and a referendum was granted for Scottish independence however it failed to return the desired result. The SNP was not deterred and continued to fight for another Scottish independence referendum which the Conservative government have refused to grant with the popularity of independence rising.[1]
