What is meant by this part of the section? "Whereas he used to lay 10 planks in the Manifesto of the communist party to transition towards a socialist state"

I think I meant that Marx had a more "peaceful" approach to establishing socialism (as per the 10 planks in the manifesto) before the Paris commune, but wrote it in the most difficult way possible 😂

Probably the term plank is not entirely correct either, as Marx said "Nevertheless, in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable.", and a plank is "a fundamental point of a political or other programme."

In general I'll rewrite the paragraph to better convey its point.
