(Redirected from Turtle Islander)
Indigenous people of the Americas are known by many names, and are from the continent of the Americas, sometimes referred to by its component parts: Turtle Island, South America, Latin America, North America, Mesoamerica, Central America, Abya Yala, etc. Currently, due to settler colonialism and imperialism, the common names of these regions and peoples are referred to in their colonial terms instead of the native terms. This is bound to change as decolonization takes place.
In total, there are over 1,000 ethnicities that make up this category. Not all are listed.
