I am unsure of the relevance of this page to the Prolewiki project and how it fits in it. Psychiatry is not a uniquely Marxist topic, and not all Marxist-Leninists agree to be anti-psychiatry.

It is probably possible to present the history of psychiatry through a Marxist framework, for example by examplifying bourgeois psychiatry, but most of the page has to be reworked.

Since this is the psychiatry page, this proposal would fit it more. It's not the anti-psychiatry page and therefore should not represent a solely anti-psychiatry point of view.

As our mission is to "make information accessible to revolutionaries and those who wish to study revolutionary theory" (https://en.prolewiki.org/wiki/ProleWiki:About), it would have to be proven on the article's page that being anti-psychiatry is important for a revolutionary proletarian government and I'm personally not sure about that, it seems psychiatry exists in socialist governments (this would be interesting to include on the page too).

I agree with what you said. I'll shift the criticisms of Psychiatry to the Anti-psych page.

Agreed. I haven't put much research into those yet as there doesn't seem to be many English texts that write about Psychiatry in socialist governments (and be pro-communism).

With further thought and after further studying, I don't agree, think of how heavily used Psychiatry is by states (both bourgeois and proletarian), and psychs often collaborate with the police; it's quite important to study and critique them, as not doing would lead to an underdevelopment of Marxism and a bunch of policy errors in communist parties.

For a start, look at some definitions of psyche and mind:

  • The psyche refers to a spiritual soul, not a material organ.
  • The mind o

Idealist outlets quite commonly defend the mind and psyche over the brain and

They seem to be mostly idealist constructions which developed in the 16th to 20th centuries because Neurology was still under developed at that time.

It would be important to critique them to update materialism. In fact, many neurologists and the research of modern neurology often disproves Psychiatric constructions.

Now, of course, it seems that Psych can exist in the socialist state and not undermine it at the same time (as long as its idealism does not materially undermine socialism); but with it being close to part of the general state, it would be dissolved in the transition from socialism to communism.
