Sinnathamby Rajaratnam (25 February 1915 – 22 February 2006), better known as S. Rajaratnam, was a Singaporean politician. He brought Singapore into the NAM in 1970 and helped create the ASEAN. He praised free markets in 1979. At the 1983 NAM conference in New Delhi, he sided with the USA against the Soviet Union.[1] He encouraged class collaboration by telling citizens not to equate their own self-interests with the national interest.[2]
