The Luhansk People's Republic (Russian: Луга́нская Наро́дная Респу́блика; LPR or ЛНР/LNR) was a separatist state with limited recognition, located in the Donbass region.[1] Despite its suggestive name, it was not a socialist state.
Due to the Euromaidan, a colour revolution that led to the rise of fascism in Ukraine, Russian and other ethnic minorities have been persecuted, resulting in the separation of Crimea, and its subsequent unification with Russia, as well as the founding of the Luhansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic in the Donbass region in early 2014.
In 21 February 2022, Russia signed a decree recognizing the independence of both the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic.[2] In July 2022, the DPRK recognized the independence of Donetsk and Luhansk as well.[3]
By July of 2022, the LPR saw its claimed territory be fully liberated from Ukrainian Occupation.
