A rent strike is when renters come together to refuse to pay their rent en masse until a specific list of demands is met by the landlord.
In 2021, Berlin lifted a rent cap which resulted in skyrocketing rents. In response, 20,000 people participated in a rent strike to demand the re-instatement of the rent cap.[1][2]
