We dropped Stripe[edit source]

I'm not sure many people care about this but it's worth pointing out for transparency on our financials.

We dropped Stripe as a payment processor because they're too difficult to use. They ask us to validate our account time and time again, and the last straw was when they blocked our account because someone used the payment links they provided us with to test stolen credit cards. I.e. "our system successfully blocked these attempts and you used our secure payment links which we provide you with instead of misimplementing our API, but we're still going to block your account because wow how can people use a publicly accessible link to do card testing, the nerves of you".

So yeah, they're getting difficult and we're not going to validate our account over and over again for them.

Thankfully there was no money on it and we got all the donations so far safely out of Stripe.

We're back on PayPal, which we don't like either (lots of people getting their paypal frozen without recourse due to shitty US laws that allow them to do whatever they want with your money, unlike Stripe).

We also had trouble connecting Stripe to our Patreon and Liberapay, and so it all goes through PayPal already.

That said, we can still look at other payment processors for one-time transactions. If you know any, please reply to me here.
