The Governance of China (Chinese: 习近平谈治国理政; Pinyin: xí jìn píng tán zhì guó lǐ zhèng) is a four volume collection of Xi Jinping's speeches and articles answering questions about the development of China and the Communist Party of China in the new era.[1] They were complied and published by China International Publishing Group, the Party Literature Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, and the State Council Information office.[2][3]
First Volume
The first volume of The Governance of China covers November 15, 2012 to June 13, 2014. The first volume has 79 piece of text in 18 chapters. It also contains 45 pictures of Xi Jinping. The volume was published to increase understanding of the government of China.[2][4] The Governance of China helps to show the policies of the CPC as a whole, according to Xu Lin, minister of the State Council Information Office.[5] The first volume was published in 37 languages.[4][6]
Second Volume
The second volume of The Governance of China covers the time period of August 2014 to September of 2017. It contains 99 pieces of text with 29 pictures. It is divided into 17 sections.[3]
Third Volume
The third volume of the The Governance of China covers from October 18, 2017 to January 13, 2020. It contains 92 pieces of text divided into 19 sections. It also contains 41 pictures. It was created and published by the China International Publishing Group, Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council Information Office, and the Research Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee.[7] The third volume was published in Chinese minority languages by the Ethnic Publishing House. These languages were Kazak, Korean, Mongolian, Tibetan, and Uygur. It was published so that the minority people in China may increase their knowledge of Xi Jinping Thought.[8]
Fourth Volume
The fourth volume of The Governance of China covers February 3, 2020 to May 10, 2022. It contains 109 pieces of text in 21 sections. The volume also contains 45 photographs. This volume is designed for both the public and government officials to understand Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.[9] The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China urged party members to study the fourth volume of The Governance of China.[10] The need to study the fourth volume was also voiced by Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. He encouraged studying all four volumes.[11]
