Planned invasion of Mongolia[edit | edit source]
On 1921 July 1, after Ungern's defeat, Zhang met with members of the Mongolian nobility in Mukden (Shenyang) and plotted to invade Örgöö. The invasion never took place because of fighting between warlord and imperialist factions and the Red Army's actions to defend Mongolia.[1]:302
