The Four Cardinal Principles are a set of principles formulated by Deng Xiaoping in 1979 to orient the economic and political development of China.[1] The four principles are:
- Upholding the socialist path.
- Upholding the dictatorship of the proletariat.
- Upholding the leadership of the Communist Party
- Upholding Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought
