The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is a far-right white supremacist organization in the United States.
History
Former Confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest founded the Ku Klux Klan in 1865 to oppose voting rights for Black people in the aftermath of the Civil War. The KKK was at its peak around the First World War and included many U.S. government officials. During the civil rights movement of the 1960s, the KKK murdered Black people protesting for civil rights and equality.[1]
