In November 13, 2000, Fujimori escaped to Japan, for political refuge, to bypass conviction by the government of Peru.[1]

Arrest
On 6 November 2005, Alberto Fujimori unexpectedly arrived in Santiago, Chile. He was asserted and extradited to Peru, where he would be imprisoned for 25 years.
