The Xi'an Incident[a] was an event where Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng arrested Chiang Kai-shek in Xi'an to pressurize Chiang into preparation for the Second Sino-Japanese War.[1]

The result of the Xi'an incident was the formation of a United Front of the Chinese warlords.
