Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin (6 June 1799 – 10 February 1837) was a progressive Russian writer. Despite being born in a noble family, he criticized feudalism and supported the Decembrist revolt. His poem The Bronze Horseman describes the democratic struggle of the commoner Yevgeni against a bronze horseman representing Tsar Pyotr Alexeyevich.[1]
