Henry Agard Wallace (October 7, 1888 – November 18, 1965) was a progressive politician from the United States. He served as Secretary of Agriculture under Roosevelt and nearly became President before Democratic Party elites replaced him with Harry Truman. He supported decolonization and rights for unions, New Afrikans, and women.[1] He ran for President in 1948 on the platform of peace with Soviet Union and abolishing the worldwide network of military bases[2] and putting foreign bases under UN control.[1]
